A few days in Bude
Pam and I took advantage of a school trip and spent a few days in Stratton, near Bude. The trip was a tester for our much longer journey in August down to the Corrèze department in France. Specifically we wanted to see how far we could comfortably ride between stops how the new Garmin Zumo 660 worked and how the intercoms faired.
Rest Stops
The journey was around 3 hours from Bristol and a stop at the Exeter services on the M5 worked well.
Accommodation
We stayed in a modern ground floor apartment in Stratton which was nice a quiet but only a 5min walk down the hill into the village. We booked through Holiday Lettings and are happy to recommend it. The owners do live above but keep their distance and leave you to enjoy your stay. We had a welcome pack that included bread, milk, fresh jam and home grown strawberries.

Food
We ate at both the Tree Inn (Restaurant) and Kings Arms (Pub grub) in Stratton.
Local trips
Boscastle - Park in the only car park and take a stroll down to the harbour
Tintagel Beach - One of our favourite hidden beaches in the world (once discovered keep it quiet!).
Croyde Bay - About an hour away is Croyde Bay which has a stunning beach. Note though that it does get busy when the weather is good and there are sand dunes between the car park and beach so be prepared for a short walk.
Recommendations
South View Annex Appartment
Pengenna Pastie - Simply the best Pastie's you will EVER taste. Head down the main street in Tintagel (Fore Street) which will lead into Atlantic Road. You probably won't need directions as you can smell the Pasties being baked - The shop is on the right as the road bends to the right (next to the car park).
